Five Africa Corps personnel were killed alongside more than 50 Malian soldiers when JNIM overran the Dioura camp in Mali's Mopti region on Sept 11, reported on Sept 14, the formation's heaviest publicly reported single loss of 2026. Africa Corps continues to function as a regime-protection force with as many as 2,500 Russian personnel in Mali, pulled back from the north to shield Bamako while JNIM sustains the selective blockade of the capital it began in September 2025.
