CJNG has been in a succession contest since Nemesio El Mencho Oseguera was killed in Tapalpa, Jalisco in February, and on Sept 12 Mexican forces dismantled a clandestine CJNG clinic in Tecalitlan, Jalisco used to treat forcibly recruited members, freeing eight people and arresting six guards. Its US terrorist designation and Rubio's Sept 9 hint at unilateral action make it the most likely target of any US operation on Mexican soil.
